i’m Daijana Wallace. it’s pronounced day-on-a (day-on-a, like “spending a day on a beach”). I’m in the Wichita area composing, teaching cello privately, and figuring out when to build my next mechanical keyboard. I’m excited to be working on a few projects this year with new friends and trusted colleagues—I can’t wait to show you what my collaborators and I have in store.

If you’re looking for my bio you can find it here.

CONSORTIUM ALERT

for two trumpets and piano

This consortium is being led by Chroma Collective, an ensemble known for combining art and music and in an engaging way by holding programs in a variety of spaces and encouaging their audience to piant or draw while guiding them through their selected program. I am really inspired by Chroma’s approach to performance and want to create a work combining two concepts that translate well both sonically and visually: echoes and shadows. Taking these words without the additional baggage of their connotations (i.e. shadows being used as “dark” or “sinister”), I hope to explore the different ways these concepts manifest. A few ideas that come to mind: echoes being immediate or delayed; shadows as grainy or sharp or grand (i.e. eclipses) and so on.

This piece will be 6(ish) minutes, will have minimal extended techniques, and will require players to have a small selection of mutes (maxium 2/player). Buy-in options are $30 for student and $50 for professional. For more information (and to sign up!) visit Chroma Collective’s Consortium page. Sign-up period ends January 1st, 2025.
